The town of Le Bois Plage en Ré is located on the south west coast of the Island, running along 5kms of coastlines, of which 4 kms is made up of sandy beaches. The town itself has a surface area of 1 218 hectars.
Le Bois Plage en Ré is classified Pavillon Bleu 2011. The permanent population is about 2 303 inhabitants (at last count), and during the summer season counts between 22.000 and 25.000 people, including over 12.000 people in the 12 campsites of the town open to the tourists.
Moreover, Le Bois Plage has two holiday resorts which have the capacity to accomodate 1 500 people.
Around the town you will find wine cellars and craft shops. Strong areas of interest for tourists are apart from the quality of the beaches, the way in which the environment has been preserved through the continual maintenance of the important local woods and sand dunes.
The animation of the village is measured by the daily attendance of its market which includes 150 merchants and to the thirty local shops. Moreover, the wine cooperative of the island based on the village attracts loyal clients who want to discover local wines (Appellation Vin de Pays), Cognac and Pineau they have.
